My Favorite Children’s Books

I am a HUGE fan of children’s books, and of course, I have a very special place in my heart for Dr. Seuss.  Today we celebrate his birthday, and it’s also National Read Across America Day! CLICK HERE to read more about Dr. Seuss.

Here’s a great poem in honor of the day…

Read Across America

You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild,

To pick up a book and read with a child.
You’re never too busy, too cool, or too hot,
To pick up a book and share what you’ve got.

In schools and communities,
Let’s gather around,
Let’s pick up a book,
Let’s pass it around.

There are kids all around you,
Kids who will need
Someone to hug,
Someone to read.

Come join us March 2nd
Your own special way
And make this America’s
Read to Kids Day.

In honor of  Read Across America, I thought I would share some of my favorite children’s books with you.

Such a fun book about a boy who’s having a really bad day!

Hopefully, there’s a little Grace in all girls!

I love ALL Dr. Seuss books!

I also love,If You Give A Pig a Pancake and If You Take a Mouse to the Movies!

A great book about how good it feels to share with others.

My mother used to read this to me when I was a kid and it is STILL funny to me.  About a little boy with a REALLY long name!

Great book with a message about selflessness, giving to others, and life in general. Love it!

My favorite book to read out loud to kids!

A Judy Blume classic for any young girl!

Great book about a kid who invents a new word!

You will laugh out loud at Junie B.

About the relationship between a young girl and her aunt who take a road trip with, Just Us Women.

Great book for teens about a girl who stops speaking after a traumatic event at a party. She then ends up expressing herself through art.

Love the entire series!

A very funny but touching book about a girl dealing with weight issues, boyfriends, family problems, and just life in general!

For very young children! They’ll love making all the animal sounds, and you’ll love hearing them!

Just started reading these, and I think they make me laugh more than my niece! Can’t wait for the movie!

My niece and I loved the movie so much, we read the book together. About a little girl who discovers her “other” family and life on the other side of the wall in her house.

Read Across America has an amazing website, with tons of great stuff for kids! CLICK HERE to check out the site with activities, advice for parents to raise a good reader, how to plan your own reading events and more!
